WHAT ARE BROKEN RHYTHMS?
Real music doesn't stay in clean pure subdivisions. Real music breaks them. It puts a pair of eighth notes on beat one, a group of sixteenth notes on beat two, a quarter note rest on beat three, and a triplet on beat four. Real music puts the subdivision where it needs to be to create the feel and groove the moment demands, not where it's most convenient for the reader.
